Members,

As you know, the coronavirus has been in the news a lot and is of concern to all of us. I wanted to share Congressman Will Hurd’s email to me regarding COVID-19 and to provide my concerns on how I feel our city is dealing with the virus. As a call to action from SAMA, I would encourage you to take his survey and pass your concerns as well.  From a personal perspective, the coronavirus is a concern especially since it has evolved into two strands with one being deadly and the other a normal coronavirus. The well-known flu virus we deal with on an annual basis is just as deadly and takes more lives (old and young alike) annually. Please let Congressman Hurd know your concerns.  As with our annual flu virus, precautions you can take are:

  1. Wash your hands
  2. Don’t touch your facial area with your hands
  3. Use hand sanitizer
  4. If you are sick, stay home
  5. Get the flu shot
  6. Use common sense

Hopefully, the onset of warmer weather will make things better. If anything new pops up on the coronavirus, we’ll keep you posted.

Sincerely,

Rey Chavez
President/CEO
SAMA

SAN ANTONIO MANUFACTURING
The manufacturing industry is one of the largest sectors of the San Antonio economy.

This fast-growing sector includes aerospace and motor vehicle manufacturing.
San Antonio companies manufacture machinery, computer components, electrical equipment and more.
From furniture to food and beverage manufacturing, this sector is a major employer in the area.
If it can be made from petroleum, plastic, paper, or just about anything else, there’s a local manufacturer that does it.
